01 – A UNIQUE EVENT
When Marrakech celebrates the white gold of its gardens
Every spring, Marrakech is filled with the delicate fragrance of orange blossoms. The city’s bitter orange trees bloom across gardens, riads and quiet courtyards, announcing the arrival of a beautiful season.
To celebrate this moment, Marrakech hosts a unique cultural event: La Zahria, the traditional festival dedicated to the distillation of orange blossom water.

La Zahria The Orange Blossom Festival 14th edition of the Orange Blossom Festival SUNDAY 22 MARS 2026 · FROM NOON · MARRAKECH |
| ORGANIZED BY THE AL MUNIYA ASSOCIATION · OFFICIAL PARTNER: LES JARDINS DE LA MEDINA |
On Sunday, March 22, 2026, Les Jardins de la Médina is delighted to welcome guests for a special edition of this celebration, organised with the Al Muniya Association, guardian of this ancestral Moroccan tradition.

“Orange blossom is not just a fragrance. It is a memory, a ritual, a living link between generations.”
02 – DISTILLATION
The Tradition of Orange Blossom Distillation in Marrakech
Orange blossom water occupies a special place in Moroccan culture. It is used in gastronomy, perfumery, and many family rituals. The traditional method of distillation has been passed down for generations and remains an important part of Marrakech’s intangible heritage.
During the festival, visitors can observe the complete distillation process: a copper still gently heated, aromatic steam rising from freshly harvested blossoms, and the precious floral water slowly collected drop by drop.
This cultural practice was officially recognised in 2022 by ISESCO as part of the Cultural Heritage of the Muslim World, and efforts are currently underway for its inclusion on the UNESCO list of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
La Zahria is therefore not simply a celebration of spring, but a moment dedicated to the preservation of Moroccan knowledge, craftsmanship and cultural memory.
