The Gnaoua and World Music Festival was born in Essaouira in 1997. The aim was to create an international event focused on the encounter of cultures. It was also and above all to preserve, enhance and promote Gnaoui music and culture in Morocco and throughout the world.

From June 20 to 23, Essaouira will host the 22nd edition of this event, which has become one of the most important events of the cultural year.
300 artists, 50 concerts and no less than 300,000 spectators are expected.
